Mobilink few days back launched BlackBerry PlayBook for Rs.62,000/- in Pakistan. They were taking the 10 days pre-order and the PlayBook was delivered to the customer after 10 days. We just got the confirmation that the tablet launched by Mobilink is not the GSM based. There are four models of Playbook – Playbook, Playbook WiMax, 4G Playbook LTE and 4G Playbook HSPA+.

The BlackBerry PlayBook tablet launched by the Mobilink is the simple PlayBook which only holds the WiFi and Bluetooth for the connectivity. If you people are thinking to buy it and replace your handsets, then you are mistaken. The BlackBerry Playbook (simple one) does not have the facility to put SIM card. Only the BlackBerry 4G Playbook HSPA+ has the GSM Network facility to use it as a mobile phone. This device is just the Tablet that you can use with Wifi for browsing Internet. SMS Encyclopedia Service in Pakistan by Mobilink Jazz

Encyclopedia, an answer to everything you want to know is now available via SMS service in Pakistan to Mobilink Jazz customers. Mobilink started this new service called “Jazz Encyclopedia” in which the customer can send their questions and queries to 8889 and get the reply back either by automatic computerized database and if not found, then by manual agents.

How does Jazz Encyclopedia Works?

Simple send your question via SMS to 8889.

Charges:

Rs.5+tax per SMS

Mobilink’s Jazz Encyclopedia is a new unique service, in which a query sent by customer is first automatically searched in the database. If the required result is not found, then the manual agents at Mobilink offices finds the answer to that specific question and reply back to the users. The process takes not more than 15 minute to get the reply back if the answer was not found in the database.

Example Question/Query:

If the user sends an SMS to 8889, asking: “1992 ka cricket World-Cup kaun jeeta tha?”

The application will instantly reply through an SMS from 8889, saying: “Dear user, we have received your request. You will receive an answer within the next 10-15 minutes. Thank you for using Jazz Encyclopedia”.

After a few minutes, another SMS containing the answer will be sent from 8889 to the user, saying: “1992 ka cricket World cup Pakistan jeeta tha. Thank you for using Jazz Encyclopedia”.

Mobilink and Ufone formally agrees to share their mobile towers with each other in effort of making the world Green. Each tower costs a huge amount of money as well as maintenance which includes generator services, 24/7 air conditioned unit at the base of the tower. In order to have the “Go Green” effect more, they both decided to share their mobile booster towers countrywide.

According to the report of ProPakistani, Mobilink CEO & President Rashid Khan signs an agreement with Abdul Aziz, President and CEO of Ufone at the Mobilink House.

Rashid Khan said,

“This alliance is mutually beneficial and will also facilitate us to better align ourselves with our strategic initiatives and become greener. This will further enhance Mobilink’s coverage footprint, already the widest, hence, bringing more value to the customer which is our top priority.”

Abdul Aziz, CEO Ufone, said,

“Ufone has had a keen interest in exploring newer avenues for our “Go Green” initiative and this tower sharing alliance is another step forward to further enhance our initiative. With this alliance Ufone has moved ahead to ensure customers have seamless connectivity no matter where they are in the country. This follows similar alliances with other operators hence allows us to create a positive network layout most beneficial to the customer”

The carbon emitted by the towers and their base stations can now be reduced as well as the expenses on putting up new towers. If Mobilink does not have a coverage in some area where Ufone has, then Mobilink can take advantage and vise versa. But, I think Ufone will get more advantage of this as Mobilink is more widely spread in the roots of Pakistan.

Mobilink is Back – The Toughest Sunday For Mobilink

Mobilink on Sunday went down throughout Pakistan which was initially an outage in the North zone only including Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Peshawar and the surrounding areas. Later the load on the other networks increased resulting in an outage and downtime throughout Pakistan. I don’t understand one thing of our people, why on earth do you use Mobilink on the first place if you have to literally abuse them. Go on, you have other options too. Sorry for using these words but, Jis thali mein khaya usi mein ….

You cannot even leave Mobilink and when a natural mishap happened, people started abusing them on their facebook page and on twitter, instead of co-operating with them. This was extremely annoying for me at least to see that since last so many years you people are using Mobilink and now for just an unfortunate mishap you all started swearing at them.

Mobilink is Pakistan’s largest cellular company with over 50% of the market share. This unfortunate incident occurred created a huge distance between the customers and Mobilink now, as people are quoting Mobilink is unreliable network now. But what I see is, Mobilink is still reliable as they have the biggest investment in the cellular industry of Pakistan and I’m sure, they can’t afford to lose it at any cost.

Good news is, Mobilink and PTA both worked hard during the Sunday to put back the network online and they have successfully made their network back online within a day. Yes, partially the network is back which includes mobile service and the Internet service (of link dot net) as well. This outage is Pakistan’s every worst telecom outage which rolled out the whole nation and the users got confused what to do. The businessmen were effect the most who also work on Sundays. The life of a youngsters were disturbed because according to a guy on Mobilink’s facebook page, he said that he has lost all his girlfriends today because of Mobilink. Though it is a shameful act, but he was proudly saying it again and again there.

Update:

Mobilink just confirmed on their facebook page that partial restoration is done.

“We confirm partial restoration of all services in the north region that were affected due to a fire incident at one of the our technical hubs in Islamabad on sunday evening causing suspension of #Mobilink services in Islamabad, Rawalpindi and some pockets outside the twin cities. There was no loss of human life and complete restoration is expected within a few hours. Thanks for your patience and kind support.”

Mobilink has announced on their website that all the services have been restored:

“All services including voice, sms and data connectivity that were affected due to a fire incident yesterday have now been restored and our customers should not be experiencing any difficulties. We sincerely regret any inconvenience caused to our valued customers. Any customer contiuning to experience difficulty may call our helpline 111 from their mobile or 111-300-300 from a landline.”

Mobilink Goes Down Thoughout Pakistan

Initially there was a known issue to Mobilink in the North where Islamabad, Rawalpindi and Peshawar regions went offline. There were some reports that Mobilink MSC5 center caught fire today. Because of this Mobilink’s main link to its NOC went down and all activities including Calls, SMS, MMS and GPRS went offline. Later on Internet service of LinkDotNet which is also a part of Mobilink has also stopped working.

Latest on this, I received a report that Mobilink is down and offline throughout Pakistan now. The network has gone down majorly because of the main disconnection of lines to Mobilink NOC. Few days back there were reports that Mobilink’s office in Beverley Center was on fire too. Mobilink Office, I-10/3. Centralized Equipment Office is the main center known as MSC5.

We will update you as soon as we receive any new information regarding the issue.

Mobilink Launched Motorola Flipout With Female Bloggers Meetup

There is a one time setup subscription charges of Rs.5+tax and then there are Rs.2+tax daily charges in addition to the call rate. The first minute will be charged at Rs.2.35+tax.
