On December 12, 2011 Nokia launched the first MeeGo OS powered smartphone Nokia N9 in Pakistan. Henri Mattila, Solution Marketing Manager of Nokia Middle-East Asia was the key speaker and presented Nokia N9 to the bloggers. The bloggers from across Pakistan were present at the launch/meetup in Karachi to unveil Nokia N9.

Nokia is one of the most favourite and most widely used mobile phone handset in Pakistan. If anyone thinks of a mobile phone, the first name that strikes in the mind is Nokia. Nokia has become a brand recognition over the last 10 years in Pakistan. Their strategy actually worked out by giving the low end and low price mobile phone handsets and give them in the hand of every Pakistani at the most affordable rates. I have few friends who have the Rs.1800 Nokia handset just because it has a flashlight.

Nokia and P@SHA setup a new venture in Pakistan to promote the developers for Nokia platform. Nokia announced a competition for Pakistani mobile phone developers to make an application on the Nokia platform and win Rs.400,000. Second prize will be Rs.80,000+Nokia smartphone and third prize will be Rs.50,000+Nokia smartphone.

Pakistan is making through the final stage of the cricket worldcup 2011 and the spirit of cricket lovers are getting higher and higher with days passing. Mobilink launched the official world cup 2011 song which was performed by Ali Zafar to promote their brand Jazz Jazba too. Zong, A china mobile company, became the first company to start giving out branded zong handsets to their customers. Zong started selling out their branded handset for as low as Rs.1500 with discounted call and sms rates for the whole year. Now, Zong has most amazingly introduced their own branded Google Android 2.2 Froyo based mobile phone handset for only Rs.15,999 with free GPRS for 6 months.

Telenor is becoming one of the favourite telecom mobile service provider company in Pakistan. Few years ago, Telenor was let down by huge numbers after the incident of Denmark when an artist drew the photos of Prophet Muhammad (pbuh). Telenor clearly indicated at that time, that they are a multi-national company and has nothing to do with Denmark in that aspect.
